NELSON LAKES NATIONAL PARK / LAKE ROTOITI WALKS

An easy drive from your vineyard base is the alpine village of St Arnaud on the shores of Lake Rotoiti. It is the gateway to the Nelson Lakes National Park. There you may visit the Department of Conservation visitor's centre to view the informative audio-visual display and information on their 'main-land project'. From here you can choose from a number of day walks to explore the lake edge and the park's glacial features and tranquil beech forests. All walks are well formed but firm footwear and warm waterproof clothing is recommended. Most of these walks will take approximately five hours and offer a variety of alpine environments to enjoy.
